Universal Roofing Solutions installs seamless gutters, downspouts and gutter guards for homes across Morris, Passaic and Sussex counties, with each system sized to the roofline and pitched to drain away from the house.
We form seamless aluminum gutters on site to fit your home, also install copper and half-round gutters, and check how the gutters tie into the roof edge and trim before we hang them. Estimates are free.
Gutters carry roof water away from your foundation, landscaping and siding. When they fail, the result is soil erosion, a wet basement, rotted fascia and, in winter, ice building up at the roof edge.
We handle:
Gutter replacement is one of the most mentioned services in our Google reviews, along with an efficient crew, transparent pricing and an owner who explains every option.
Left alone through a New Jersey winter, these problems lead to ice dams, rotted fascia and water in the basement.
| Gutter type | Best for | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Seamless aluminum | Most homes | Formed on site to fit your home; durable, rust-resistant and low maintenance |
| Copper | Homes where appearance and longevity matter most | Very durable, and develops a natural patina over time |
| Half-round | Historic homes and distinctive architectural styles | A classic rounded profile that still drains efficiently |
Sectional gutters are joined every few feet, and every joint is a place to leak. Seamless gutters run in one piece along each side of the house, so seams appear only at corners and outlets.
A gutter is only as good as its downspouts. We size and place downspouts for the amount of roof each one drains, and direct the water away from the foundation with extensions where needed. That protects your basement, your landscaping and the soil around the house.
Gutter guards cover the top of the gutter so water gets in and leaves stay out. They reduce clogs and make maintenance easier, which matters on North Jersey lots with mature oaks and maples hanging over the roof. Guards are optional, and we fit them to your gutters and roofline.
| Your property | Gutter guards? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Large oaks or maples hanging over the roof | Strongly worth considering | Leaves refill the gutters between cleanings |
| Trees nearby, but not over the roof | Worth considering on two-story homes | Fewer ladder climbs to high gutters |
| Steep roof or hard-to-reach gutters | Worth considering | Cleaning these gutters is slow and risky |
| Few or no trees near the house | Usually not needed | Twice-yearly cleaning keeps gutters clear |
Guards cut down on cleaning; they do not eliminate it. Small debris and shingle granules can still collect, so plan a quick check each season.
From late fall through early spring, North Jersey temperatures often swing above and below freezing in the same day. When a gutter is clogged or pitched the wrong way, water sits in the trough, freezes overnight and expands. The weight of the ice pulls on the hangers and drags the gutter away from the fascia, and the expansion opens seams and end caps. Meltwater that cannot drain refreezes at the roof edge, building ice that backs water up under the shingles. Correct pitch, clear downspouts and fewer seams keep water moving, which is why the fall roof and gutter checklist puts gutter cleaning before the first hard freeze.
| Situation | Usually | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One loose hanger or a downspout that came apart | Repair | The rest of the system is sound |
| A few leaking seams on solid gutters | Repair | Resealing stops the drips |
| Sagging along whole runs or leaks at many seams | Replace | Repairs will not hold the pitch |
| Soft or rotted fascia behind the gutters | Replace, once the fascia is sound | New gutters need solid wood to hang on |
| A roof or siding project is planned | Replace at the same time | One project, one crew and a finished roof edge |
Our roof maintenance plans include professional gutter cleaning: one cleaning with the Silver Plan ($395) and two with the Gold ($595) and Platinum ($895) Plans, plus snow removal.
It depends on the length of the gutter runs, the height of the house, the material, the number of downspouts and whether you add guards. We give you a free estimate after measuring your home.
Seamless gutters have far fewer joints, so there are fewer places for leaks to start. They are formed on site to fit each run of your home.
If large trees hang over your roof or your gutters are hard to reach, guards are worth considering. With few trees nearby, cleaning twice a year is usually enough.
They add to the cost of the system, and fine debris and shingle granules can still collect on or under them, so they need an occasional check. Under heavy tree cover, the time they save usually outweighs those drawbacks.
Both. We repair, realign and unclog gutters, and we replace systems that sag, leak at many seams or no longer drain.
At least twice a year, in late fall and spring, and more often under heavy tree cover.
It is often the right time. The roof edge is already open, and new gutters can be fitted to the new drip edge in the same project.
